Today is the day to say good-bye to that paycheck! The BlizzCon merchandise pre-sale has started for con-goers and virtual ticket holders.
After a few days of teasing, the BlizzCon Pre-Sale is starting today through November 9th! About two days ago, we were giving close-up sneak peeks at some of the items that will be available online and on the convention floor. There were three of them I couldn’t quite tell what they were.
On October 11, 2013, the BlizzCon merchandise pre-sale for ticket holders (convention goers and virtual ticket holders alike) will be available. Everyone loves convention loot!
BlizzCon is less than a month away, but that doesn’t stop Blizzard Entertainment from teasing their fan-base mercilessly. Of course, Blizzard couldn’t show everything, but they did want to share a sneak-peek at what will be in store. Supplies will be limited so if you aren’t going to be at BlizzCon in person or haven’t purchased your Virtual Ticket yet, now is the time to scramble on over and purchase it.
To access the sale on these dates, log in to the Blizzard Store with the Battle.net® account associated with your BlizzCon ticket or Virtual Ticket (physical ticket buyers can view this info in their Order History).
Servers announced for Round 2 of World of Warcraft Connected Realms. Blizzard snubbs dying servers.
Blizzard Entertainment has always struggled with having all servers feeling populated. A happy, populated realm usually has plenty of “Looking for Group” in trade chat, materials at a decent (depending) price on the Auction House, and a bustling looking capital.
But over time, player population shifts happen as they try to play with friends, find a new guild, want Heroic boss kills, or competitive PvP in the pursuit for just the right fit to call home. This has left some servers less than popular creating difficulties to guild recruit, find items on the Auction House, and just in-game enjoyment experience.
The team over at Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft™ have been getting busy sending out more opt-in invites!
That’s right, Blizzard Entertainment has been stepping up the Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft™ invites this week. Following on the heels of not one but two invite waves at the end of last week, more players will be flocking into closed beta today.
It looks like they may be trying to send out a wave of invites almost everyday for all regions to see how much stress they can put on the new hardware. Since this is technically day 4 of invites (no keys were sent on the weekend), I can only guess that this is their end goal.
If you recall from the Hearthstone Patch and Collection Wipe article, Community Manager Zeriyah explained that the hardware Hearthstone had been on was limiting the number of invites for the first phase. But probably the most important quote was “TLDR: Brace yourselves, the opt-ins are coming.“
And based on the most recent post on the forums about opt-in invites, they’re doing just that. The process is still slow going as the team tests out the strain on the new hardware. Eventually, the sense that only the privileged few have access will diminish.
So please, calmly check your inbox and spam box for an invite into the Hearthstone closed beta. If you did not receive an invite at this time, take a deep breath and remember, there is always the next wave.
Let me know if you got your opt-in invite today in the comments below and share the first hero class you will be unlocking as soon as the tutorial is over.
Internal testing for Hearthstone on the iPad is really happening.
We all saw the woman playing Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft™ on the iPad during the “What is Hearthstone?” video produced byBlizzard Entertainment. Not to mention it is covered in Hearthstone’s FAQ section about platform availability. So we’ve all been wondering how soon we might be able to start testing it out on the iOS.
Now that Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft™ first patch is live, new players have been invited in the recent opt-in wave!
In case you’ve been under a rock, the highly anticipated information wipe for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft™ started early October 2nd, 2013 at 8am PDT for the North American region before concluding after an extended down time at 8pm PDT followed by the European region being down from 6pm PDT to 7am PDT. Hurrah for technical difficulties!
But the information wipe wasn’t the only thing that happened. A decent amount of changes and improved features went live as well. For more information on what went in with this first patch, check out the First Patch article where I highlighted some of the more interesting changes and linked to the full patch notes.
I jumped right in last night to get through the tutorial before bed with little to no issues. I even took the time to look at the shiny, new crafting interface that was added. I drooled over the multitudes of golden basic minions that I want to just grace my hand and make me feel important.
And with the new patch came hardware upgrades. As stated by Community Manager Zeriyah on the forums, the first closed beta phase did not allow a large number of participants due to hardware limitations. But since they have made some serious transitions into hardware that can accommodate a larger pool of players, that means more opt-in waves. And they have held true!
So hurry on over and check your inbox and spam box for you opt-in invite. Remember, if you didn’t get one this wave, there’s always next time. The team will slowly be increasing the player pool as they see what kind of strain the new hardware can handle. So please, remain patient if you did not receive your invite yet.
Where is a time machine when you need one?
It’s been seven long years since the World of Warcraft movie was first announced. On again, off again, on again, director change. There’s been offers to actors for leading roles in the upcoming feature. And now we have an official release date for the movie everyone has been waiting for!
That’s right! Two years and 2 months from now, you’ll be able to gather with your friends and family to see the motion picture of a lifetime! This live action film is scheduled to start January 13, 2014.
We still don’t know which period in Azeroth history Blizzard Entertainment has decided on or if they will write a whole new story to be presented on the big screen. Attendees at Comic-Con were privy to a teaser of the movie, but no footage has surfaced for speculation.
I personally am hoping for a completely new story. Something to draw in a new audience. But it will have to have the means to stand on its own without a ton of back story to catch new viewers up with long term Warcraft fans. I do have one request, though… No Med’an, please, unless he has a chance of not being a Mary-Sue with great character development.
Will you be waiting at the box office premiere night? And if you are, what story do you hope will be shared in the movie?
The race to World First has finally reached its end for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria.
It’s been almost three weeks since Orgrimmar began to be under siege in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. The top end raiders have been going head to head against Garrosh Hellscream’s amassed army and arsenal. Only thirteen days since heroic mode was unlocked and we were concerned the race would be over before it really started.
The US’s Blood Legion had conquered 10/14 bosses inside the walls of Orgrimmar after just 11 hours of raiding. But the gap between EU patch was quickly closed by EU’s Method following suit hitting 9/14 after just 7 hours and then 10th after 12 hours! Bringing the return of the familiar rivalry of Blood Legion versus Method.
Now, what some forgot about was the brief time in patch 5.4 between schedule raid testing periods, crafty raiders were able tocircumvent the lock down. We don’t know which bleeding-edge team it was or how far they got, but this could account for the quick boss kill succession or Blizzard’s attempt to have boss difficulty increase the farther into the raid you went.
On the Edge of a Knife
Although Method was in the lead of defeating the Paragons three days before Blood Legion, the race still teetered on the edge of a knife to see who could use the most clever of mechanics to bring down Garrosh and end his tyranny. And the winner for World First 25-man Heroic of Siege of Orgrimmar was revealed tonight.
A huge congratulations for the conquering heroes who have earned well-deserved rest after their winning celebration. They even managed to claim the victory before Paragon completed 10-man Heroic Siege of Orgrimmar. With earning World First Ra-Den and now Garrosh, Method appears to have earned the top spot for Mists of Pandaria.
